The closing ceremony of 2018 edition of Smart Teachers 2018 took place on July 26, 2018 at the National Advanced Engineering School of Yaounde. The heart of this ceremony was the conclusion of the program’s project competition, which featured 15 teams of secondary school students coached by teachers participating in the program. It brought together the participating teachers and the students members of their teams, as well as various actors of the Cameroonian educational system and guests.
The projects were evaluated by a jury comprising Mr. Germain Tchamko (Regional Pedagogical Inspector of Mathematics for the center), Dr. Plaire Tchinda (Teacher at the National Advanced Engineering School of Yaounde), Ms. Nathalie Tekam (Lead at GetReady).
Secondary school students coached by participating teachers defended content or digital solutions creation projects to improve the teaching of STEM subjects …
… or projects applying to a concrete social problem, STEM concepts seen in class.
Teams who could not make the trip for the closing ceremony created videos presenting their projects, which were presented by the coach teacher.
When needed, these competitors were questioned remotely forthwith by the jury.
Mr. Georges Niatchak, IT Coordinator at AIMS-TTP, a Smart Teachers 2018 partner, encouraged participating teachers and their students to continue applying the training they received during the program.
