About GetReady

GetReady was initiated in 2013 by Cameroonian individuals with the goals:

  • to impact young girls’ mindset about STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) fields and careers by showing them as accessible and attractive;
  • to increase their innovation potential via an early computer literacy and appropriation of ICT tools as problem solving utilities.

To achieve these objectives, primary and secondary schools are offered a web tutoring platform containing interactive and multimedia scientific educational resources complying with the Cameroonian official scholar programs, as well as attractive and customized content related to STEM fields and careers. For underprivileged schools, computers are offered to allow them to use the platform.

As the GetReady team believes in the strength of sharing and being together, talks are animated in beneficiary schools by professional women in STEM fields, in order to give students practical information about their careers, what and where they studied, and their daily professional experience.

Through its lead, Nathalie Tekam, GetReady is supported by Women Enhancing Technology (WeTech), a 2013 Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action that was launched by former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. WeTech is a consortium of dedicated partners that has joined the Institute of International Education (IIE) to design and support a series of innovative activities to provide training, build networks and offer professional opportunities. WeTech helps women and girls enter and succeed in technology careers, with the goal of enhancing women’s talent and skills needed to fuel technological and economic growth.

kebisu, the tutoring platform offered to primary and secondary schools, is kindly provided by ITISS, a Cameroonian startup.
